If there were descriptive words such as "nobility", "prominence" and "aristocracy" to be linked to a very old family in Cyprus during the tail end of 1800 that of my grandfather's merited all three.
He was the well respected and devoted patriarch who had raised four sons and two daughters, had given them the best of education, and who -in turn- became important members of the Cypriot society, and had raised their own families in the same fashion as they were raised themselves..
He was the first Cypriot to travel to Africa and bring back with him a young black couple(man and wife) to work at his estate in Ayios Serghios- Famagusta. They were baptised in the Greek Orthodox faith, and had them help raise his large family. This black couple who eventually died while still being in the Santamas family, and who were considered members of it themselves, had 2 children of their own.
I can only "remember" one of their two daughters, "Kakoullou", who was a "live in" at my parents household while I was a young child in Famagusta, and who helped raise me while my mother maintained her millinery shop, in the early thirties. The second daughter, I was just recently informed by my cousin Marios that her name was "Bianca" and she was a "live in" at my uncle Lysos household .

"Nicolaos Panayioti Santamas" (1866-1951).

He will always be fondly remembered by all of his successors from lifetime to lifetime.

This genealogy family-tree was researched and compiled by the late Michael Lysandrou Santamas (1932-1996). We are all sincerely thankful to him for his hard and diligent work, which lasted for two years, ..turning every stone to obtain the correct information, via church and government records of births and deaths, as well as data received from members of the last generation while still alive, and also from recent generations. I would very much like to continue his work while I am still able, therefore I will appreciate any information sent to me by the family members in reference to changes, and/or additions to our family-tree.
